Coins are available in the values 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 francs. 1 franc consists of 100 centime. Tickets are available in the denominations 100, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 francs. The franc became the currency of Rwanda when Belgium had control over Congo. This Belgian franc was used until 1960 and followed by the Rwandan franc.
