About the Polish Zloty (PLN)

The Polish word zloty means golden. Just like the former Dutch guilder, the coin is derived from the florin. The Polish zloty exchange rate has undergone significant changes over the years. The Polish zloty was created in 1923 as the successor to the Polish mark. After a period of hyperinflation, the currency was reformed in 1995. The new zloty lost four zeros compared to the old one. 1 new zloty (PLN) was equal to 10,000 old zlotys (PLZ).
